Mentoring Programs: Big Brothers Big Sisters has different programs for different mentors and different kids. Each program is flexible and can fit anyone’s schedule. Our programs are based on you’re interests, your time and your location. Community Based – Be a Big in your community. You and your little do activities that are of interest to the two of you out in the community, like going to the movies, washing the car, going to the park. On average, volunteers meet with a child 2-3 times a month. Couples or Family – Married couples or entire families are matched with one child. Most couples and families are matched with Little Brothers. The match is similar to a Community based match. Sports Buddies – This program is a site-based program that is offered in Carlisle and Lebanon in partnership with the local YMCA. Mentors are matched with a child and can take full advantage of the YMCA facilities. All activities are on site and matches usually meet 2 – 4 times a month. These matches may transfer to the Community based program. School Based – Our school based program has several options: Mentors meet with their little at a local elementary or middle school. Mentors come from various places some are corporate partnerships, some are high school partnerships, some come from local colleges and/or some are interested volunteers from the community. Breakfast Buddies – Also a school based program, but mentors meet with their littles at breakfast time. Club Buddies – We sometimes have partnerships with other agencies to provide mentoring opportunities. Examples would be working with the Boys and Girls Club or Salvation Army.
